In late 2015, the University of Houston Libraries made an institutional commitment to migrate the data for its digitized and digital cultural heritage collections to open source systems for preservation and access: Hydra-in-a-Box (now Hyku), Archivematica, ArchivesSpace, and Avalon. The Bayou City DAMS project includes the development of an end-to-end digitization workflow aimed at making our archival collections available online, allowing them to be searched and browsed in a variety of ways, and ensuring that the digital surrogates are preserved long-term.
