Join Over a Million Readers in the
National African American Read-In

Please join the University of Houston Libraries for their second annual African American Read-In on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the MD Anderson Library’s Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion.

All interested UH faculty, staff, and students are invited to share their favorite poems, passages of fiction or nonfiction, lyrics, play scripts, or speeches written by African Americans. Guests are also welcome to just come and listen. Classes and organizations are encouraged to attend.

The African American Read-In is an important component of the greater Houston community and the University of Houston’s Black History Month activities.  It is through the participation and support of the Libraries, University, and Houston community that this event is possible and destined to become a tradition on campus.

It is important for all of us to see ourselves in books.
– Dr. Jerrie Cobb Scott, Founder of the African American Read-In
